New Identification Service for Bolama

A significant new milestone has been reached in strengthening citizens’ access to identification services in Guinea-Bissau. The Minister of Justice, João Bernardo Vieira, officially inaugurated the second mobile national identity card issuance center in the Bolama region, the regional capital.

Following the opening of the first mobile center in Bubaque, this new facility further expands the coverage of civil registration and identification services across the archipelago, bringing public administration closer to local communities.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Director General of Identification, Helder Romano Vieira, Semlex Operations Manager, Zefrino S. Cardoso, the Administrator of Bolama, as well as several local authorities and institutional representatives.

In his address, Minister João Bernardo Vieira emphasized the importance of this achievement, describing it as another decisive step in the ongoing efforts to improve citizens’ access to public services. He also highlighted the essential role that modern identification services play in strengthening administrative inclusion and supporting local development.

With this second mobile center in the Bolama region, Semlex continues its commitment alongside the national authorities to provide modern, accessible, and high-quality identification services to the entire population.

To date, Guinea-Bissau’s national enrollment network comprises 21 enrollment centers across the country. In the regions, these centers are located in Gabu, Canchungo, Buba, Bafatá, Mansoa-Bissorã, Ingoré, Quinhamel, Catió, Bubaque, Farim, Safim, São Domingos, and Bolama. In Bissau, enrollment services are available at the Headquarters (HQ) in Alto Bandim, Zone 7, as well as Santa Luzia, Bairro Ajuda, Antula, Bairro Militar, and Plack 2, ensuring nationwide coverage and convenient access to identification services for all citizens.
