Our subsidiary Semlex Guinea-Bissau officially inaugurated the new S\u00e3o Domingos biometric enrollment center on Thursday, 26 February 2026. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Justice, Mr. Carlos Pinto Pereira, our Operations Manager, Mr. Zefrino Cardoso, as well as regional and sectoral authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Located in the north of Guinea-Bissau, on the border with Ziguinchor in the Republic of Senegal, the S\u00e3o Domingos sector covers an area of 1,035.1 km\u00b2 and has an estimated population of 29,116 inhabitants. The opening of this center represents a major step forward for this strategic area, facilitating access to secure identity documents for the entire population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The S\u00e3o Domingos center is the third enrollment service established in the Cacheu region, following those in Canchungo and Ingor\u00e9. It is part of the national authorities\u2019 commitment, in partnership with Semlex Guinea-Bissau, to strengthen territorial coverage and bring public services closer to citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his speech, Minister of Justice Carlos Pinto Pereira emphasized that the ministry\u2019s efforts will continue to ensure broader access to identification services, while maintaining the security, quality, and efficiency of procedures. He also stated that, despite limited resources, the Ministry of Justice and its partner will do everything possible to ensure the sustainable and effective operation of these services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regional and sectoral authorities of S\u00e3o Domingos welcomed this initiative, which they consider essential for the local population. Thanks to this new infrastructure, citizens will no longer need to travel to Ingor\u00e9 or Bissau to obtain their identity documents, thereby reducing costs, delays, and logistical constraints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of this ongoing effort, the opening of new biometric document production centers is planned as early as next March in the localities of Bolama and Bula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through these achievements, Semlex Guinea-Bissau reaffirms its commitment alongside the national authorities to modernize the identification system, strengthen document security, and contribute to the country\u2019s institutional development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
